Shirley Mae Schuchard

Shirley Mae Schuchard (Schulz) was born on April 3, 1936, to Albert P. and Esther Schulz in Fruitland, Idaho, and passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 13, 2022. She was the oldest of two daughters. When Shirley was still young, the family moved to the Harlowton, MT area where she grew up with her sister and parents. When Shirley was a Junior in high school, the family moved to Missoula, MT where Shirley graduated from Missoula High School.



While Shirley was still living in Harlowton, she met the love of her life, Duane, in Walther League at the Lutheran Church in Harlowton. They were married at the Lutheran Church in Laurel, MT. on March 31, 1956. After they were married, they moved to Alberton, MT. where Duane worked for the railroad. Their son, Kenneth Raymond, was born while they lived in Alberton. Shortly after, Shirley and Duane moved the family to Rapelje, MT where Duane worked on a ranch. While living in Rapelje, their daughter, Katharine Louise, was born. They moved the family again shortly afterward to Billings, MT. where Shirley resided until her death.



Shirley had numerous occupations while living in Billings. She worked for Kmart Foods, Gainan’s, Hoppers Floral, Golden Rule, Warehouse Market and various party plans. Shirley was active in her church where she was a member of the Altar Guild. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Duane, her son, Kenneth, her parents, Albert and Esther and her sister, Joann.



She is survived by her daughter, Katharine Teachout (Tim), her granddaughters, Rebecca Wohlschlag (Shane), Jennifer Vogel and Rachel Brooks. Her great grandchildren, Caydence and Taylor Wohlschlag, Austin, Jayde, Allie, Xander and Landon Vogel, and Sya and Justice Brooks and a great-great grandson.



Viewing will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 22 at Perkins Funeral Home in Harlowton, MT with interment to follow at the Harlowton Cemetery.
