Roger L. Jarrell

August 4, 1942 — September 16, 2022

Roger Lee Jarrell, 80, of Shawmut, MT, passed away on September 16, 2022, after an extensive battle with cancer.


Roger was born on August 4, 1942, in Slagle, WV, to Hershall and Phyllis Jarrell. He spent his younger years in Eastern Kentucky and his family later moved to Bay View, OH. Roger attended Margaretta High School and in his senior year, he joined the Navy. During his 20 years in the Navy, Roger visited various countries of which Greece was his favorite. He served a year in Vietnam where he managed a pier site. During his time in the Navy, he met and married Patricia Belanger and they had two children, Phil Jarrell and Debra (Doug) Kendall. After several years, this marriage ended in divorce.


Roger ended his military career with the rank of Senior Chief. After his service in the Navy, he attended a junior college in Florida. He worked at various occupations after he left the military.


In 1992, Roger met Barbara Bandy and they became lifelong companions and they eventually moved to Montana. Roger was a member of the American Legion and at one time was on the museum board.


Roger had four sisters and one brother: Larry (deceased) and his wife Elaine Jarrell; Patricia and Lee (Buzz) Greiger; Lucille (Lou) Bonczar, husband Bill (deceased); Brenda Jasper (deceased) and husband John; Gloria Jean Jarrell and husband Alan Hasty.


There will be no services per Roger’s request. Condolences may be shared at perkinsfuneralhome.com.
