Joyce Taylor

August 18, 1933 — October 5, 2021

Joyce Taylor, 88, of Harlowton, passed away Tuesday morning, October 5, 2021, in the Wheatland Memorial Nursing Home of natural causes. She was born August 18, 1933, in Lovell, WY, the daughter of Darr and Evelyn (Watts) Johnson. The family moved from Byron, WY, to Bridger, MT, when she was a young girl, and then to Harlowton, where she continued her education. On January 7, 1950, she was united in marriage to Floyd G. (Ted) Taylor in Harlowton. They made their home in Harlowton until the early 1960's when they moved to Milwaukee with Ted's job returning to Harlowton in 1964. In 1970 they moved to Valier and then in 1974 to Alaska, living there until 1990 when Ted's health brought them back to Harlowton. He preceded her in death in 1997.

Joyce enjoyed being able to work for the Wheatland County Senior Citizen's Center and Wheatland Memorial Healthcare in transportation, where she could drive people to their doctor appointments and deliver meals on wheels. She retired in 2017 and spent the next two winters in Texas with her daughter before becoming a resident at the Nursing Home where she previously knew and was friends with everyone who lived there.

Joyce enjoyed many years of bowling, sewing, and making clothes for friends and family. She made quilts for each of her grandchildren as they were married and also did repairs and alterations for the Harlo cleaners. In addition, Joyce was an Avon Lady for 60 years. Joyce was famous at her church for her delicious, homemade caramels which she brought to each activity. They were also a special treat to her kids at Christmas time. For entertainment, she was an avid BYU Sports Fan, a collector of Elvis Presley memorabilia, and enjoyed all old Western movies.

She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the Wheatland County Senior Citizens.

She is survived by son Ted G. (Nancy) of Dillon, MT; daughter Vicki Brady of Georgetown, TX; daughter-in-law Anne Taylor of Kalispell, MT; 9 grandchildren, Jory Taylor, Kelly Taylor, Kari (Dalen) Davis, Todd (DeAnn) Brady, Beth (Martin) O'Connor, Tara (Yaniv) Dinter, Jeremy (Tiffany) Taylor, Chad Taylor, Justin Taylor; 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, son Ben, daughter Diane, sister ElDonna Pierce, son-in-law Bobby Walters and granddaughter-in-law Joy Taylor.
