James F. Lyons

 James Frederick Lyons 82 of Judith Gap died Saturday morning, January 30th, 2021 at his home of natural causes. Jim was born on November 3rd, 1938 to George and Pauline (Elliot) Lyons in Harlowton MT. He was raised with his older sister on the ranch in Two Dot, MT. Jim spent his youth and much of his young adulthood working on his family's ranches in Two Dot and Judith Gap.   He attended the Two Dot School until the 8th grade. He graduated from Harlowton High school in 1956. Jim also attended Eastern Wyoming College where he met the farmer's daughter, Janice Stricker.

Jim was united in marriage with Janice Stricker, the love of his life on June 29, 1958 in Torrington, Wyoming. Together they raised a family, working on ranches in Wyoming and Montana. They returned to Jim's family ranch, west of Judith Gap in 1970.   Jim was also known for his skills in construction. He spent the last several years building in Central Montana. Jim finally retired in 2017, spending his remaining years enjoying family and friends.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Jan of 62 years; His treasured children, daughter Shawn (John) Gaugler of Bozeman, MT; son Shay (Linda) Lyons of Graham, WA; daughter Shannon (Joe) Balas of Butte, MT; 7 grandchildren, Josh (Renee), Dustin (Alyssa), Tyler (Lysee), Taylor, Kendal, Macey and Payton; 11 great grandchildren; Lexi, Koen, Kasen, Oakley, Madison, Blake, Addison, Gavin Nox, Isla and Crew as well as his God daughter, Kathy Leikam and several nieces and nephews.

Jim was proceeded in death by his parents, two infant sons (Michael and Robbie), his sister and his infant granddaughter Jordyn.

Friends and relatives are asked to join in the celebration of Jim's life on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 11:00 A.M in the Judith Gap Methodist Church, committal will be at 3:00 p.m. in the Harlowton Cemetery. Perkins Funeral Home of Harlowton is assisting the family. Due to Covid-19, please use your own discretion regarding your attendance.
