John L. Barrett, 93, of Harlowton the oldest son of Lawrence and Josie (Lancelle) Barrett left this earth to meet his Friend Jesus on January 5th, 2019 in Wheatland Memorial Healthcare of natural causes.  He received his education in Lewistown graduating from Fergus County High School, then on to the College of Great Falls (now University of Providence) and Western Evangelical Seminary in Portland, OR.  and then entered the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II.  Following his discharge, he returned to his home in Lewistown, MT and on April 10, 1948 he was united in marriage to Beth A. Baxter.  To this union three children were born, John L. II, Arlene Jo and Thomas Samuel.  The family served pastoral assignments in Oregon and Montana.  John and Beth had a wonderful life together for over 70 years.  They worked also with Mobile Missionary Assistance Program (MMAP) for 12+ years. 

He is survived by his wife of 70 years Beth of Harlowton; daughter Arlene Jo McGaffey of Harlowton, MT; son Thomas S. in Indiana; 9 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; other relatives and innumerable “adopted great grandchildren” and friends are located all over the USA.

He was preceded in death by his oldest son John L. II in 2013, daughter-in-law Ona in 2019, his parents, sister Betty Hoover brothers Bill and Charles.

Memorial Services for John L. Barrett, Sr. will be Sunday, June 2, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in Wesleyan Church in Harlowton.  Cremation has taken place and committal will be in the Lewistown City Cemetery at a later date.  The Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
