James E. Petterson, Jr. 69 of Harlowton died early Thursday morning, January 24th, 2019 in Billings Clinic after a battle with lung cancer. He was born March 31, 1949 in Redwood City, CA the son of James E. and Oma J. (Hahn) Petterson, Sr. The family moved to Aspermont, TX where he received his education graduating from High School in Aspermont in 1967. He then worked with a harvest crew from Texas to Canada until joining the Air Force in 1969.   He received his discharge in 1979 and continued on in the Air Force Reserve. He then begins working as a lineman in Wyoming and Montana. He was united in marriage to Kathryn Rosenberg on April 17, 1981. They lived in Harlowton until moving to Whiteman Air Force Base in Johnson County Missouri. He worked on the Minuteman Missiles with the Civil Engineering department as an electrician. He retired in 2012 and in 2016 they moved to Harlowton.

Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting at the gun range, reloading, working on his old Jeep and spending time with his family especially his “Pride & Joy” his grandson Nolan.

He is survived by his wife Kathryn and daughter Melissa both of Harlowton; son Michael (Roxanne) of Leeton, MO; brothers Steve (Debra) of Aspermont, TX and David (Randee) of Maple Plains, IA; sister Billie Carter of Aspermont, TX; one grandson Nolan; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Memorial Services for James E. Petterson, Jr. will be Wednesday, February 6th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Federated Church in Harlowton. Cremation has taken place and committal will be in the Harlowton Cemetery at a later time. The Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
