Bessie Abigail Galahan 95, passed away peacefully January 7, 2018 in Wheatland Memorial Healthcare in Harlowton, MT. Bessie is forever loved by many, she will always be remembered as a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Bessie was born on September 18, 1922 in Quesnel, British Columbia, Canada the daughter of Grant and Ethel (Foyle) Smith. The Smith family moved to Absarokee, Montana in the late 1920’s where Bessie attended school and eventually met the love of her life Harold “Gally” Galahan. Harold and Bessie were married on September 21, 1941. They had three children together, Gary, Gail, and Robert. The Galahan family moved to Harlowton, Montana around 1960 where they purchased the family business, “Gally’s Five and Dime.”

Bessie was always known for her amazing cooking abilities. She enjoyed good food, socializing, and nightly toddies with friends and family. In her free time, she loved to work in her garden and spent countless hours embroidering.

Bessie is preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert Smith and her husband of 52 years in 1994.

Bessie is survived by her children Gary (Judy) Galahan of Augusta, MT, Gail (Dennis) Powell of Yuma, AZ, and Robert Galahan of Harlowton, MT; brother Grant of Absarokee, MT; as well as multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside Services for Bessie Galahan will be Friday, January 12th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Rosebud Cemetery, next to her husband, in Absarokee, MT. Visitation will be Thursday, January 11th, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Perkins Chapel. The Perkins Funeral Home of Harlowton is assisting the family.
