Francis Oscar “Doc” Rosenberg 93 passed away at his home Wednesday morning, April 12th, 2017, after an extended illness. He was born January 23, 1924 in Minot, North Dakota the only son of Oscar and Lydia (Jensen) Rosenberg. He received his schooling in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1942. After enlisting in the Army Air corps in 1943 he served as a meteorologist and ended up a Navigator on the

B-24 in World War II. Doc attended college at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND and in 1946 he transferred to Northern Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago graduating in 1949. He started his optometry practice in Williston, North Dakota where he met the love of his life, Donna Vader, and they were united in marriage on December 10, 1949 in Williston. He practiced in Tioga and Stanley, ND moving to Billings in 1968 and working at the Morledge Eye Clinic. In 1971 they moved to Harlowton and where he operated his practice until retiring in 1990.

Dad loved to hunt, fish and enjoyed playing golf. He was a private pilot and loved to fly. He and Donna loved to travel always visiting family and friends. A favorite memory for dad was participating in the North Dakota Honor Flight in 2010. Something he was most proud of was designing and helping to build the Veterans Memorial Wall at the Wheatland county courthouse in Harlowton. Doc was a member and active in the Federated Church, the Wheatland Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, Moose Lodge, Jawbone Creek Golf Course and the American Legion where he was a member for 72 years.

He is survived by his wife Donna; son Jim (Lynn); daughter Kathy (Jim) Petterson all of Harlowton; grandchildren Mandy (Brandon) Glover, Chris (Shannon) Rosenberg, Melissa Petterson, Mike (Roxanne) Petterson, Casey Rosenberg, Kayla (Dwayne) Mullens, Kyle Rosenberg; six great grandchildren Lily Jo Glover, Hanna Glover, Kaiya Rosenberg, Mica Mullens, Cedar Mullens and Nolan (little Oscar) Petterson.

He was preceded in death by one son John and his parents.

Memorial Services for Francis “Doc” Rosenberg will be Wednesday, April 19th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Federated Church in Harlowton. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be held at a later date. The Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
