Joseph “Joe” Vezey Morse, Sr., 81 of Two Dot, Montana, died on July 26, 2020 at his home on the ranch of natural causes.  He was born in Sequim, Washington on April 11, 1939 to Clarence and Doris (Vezey) Morse. The family shortly after moved to Harlowton, Montana where he attended school and was active in many sports throughout his youth. He was an avid baseball player with the “Flat Rats” in Harlowton, playing catcher.

He eventually got bored with school and joined the U.S. Navy attending a number of schools and becoming an electrician’s mate aboard the S.S. Hancock. He was proud of his top-secret clearance.

He returned to marry his life love, Diane Martin on June 5, 1960 in Harlowton. They worked farm jobs in Myers, St. Xavier, and Billings, before returning to the Martin-Morse Ranch where they built a home and settled for the remainder of their lives.

In 1979, Joe contracted encephalitis and endured the process of rehabilitating himself. He was an avid reader and he learned to do many crafts such as needlepoint art and latch hook rugs. He was a devoted grandpa and always made time to be part of his grandchildren’s lives.  For many years he took great enjoyment in being the Two Dot correspondent for the Harlowton Times.  Politically, he was a staunch Republican and loved showing off his Trump hats.

He is survived by sons Joseph II (Mina) of Columbus, MT and Grant (Abby) of Two Dot, MT; grandchildren Joseph III, Columbus, Ian (Joni) of Spokane WA.; Thea Sostrom (Spencer) of Newcastle, CO.; Grant and Garth of Two Dot; great-grandchildren Elouise and Miles: sisters Vonda Hammond of Cripple Creek, CO and  Lenna (Joe) Wester of Willow Creek and several nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Kari Morse, wife Diane, and sister Carol Clark.
