Joyce I. (Quigley) Massing 81 long-time resident of Harlowton passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Monday, November 13th, 2017 in Morning Star Assisted Living Facility in Billings. Joyce was born April 6, 1936 in Valentine, MT the daughter of Durward & Marie (Rice) Quigley one of seven children. She received her schooling in Harlowton graduating from Harlowton High School in 1954. She worked for Continental National Bank following High School. On December 10, 1955 she was united in marriage to H.P (Pete) Massing in Harlowton. They began their family with a daughter Patricia in 1956 and a second daughter Julie in 1958. During her life she worked at the Coast to Coast Store and the State of Montana Liquor Store. She was also the Wheatland County Deputy Assessor and lastly worked as curator for the Upper Musselshell Museum in Harlowton.

Joyce was an avid artifact hunter, artist and bowler. Golfing was another pastime that she enjoyed. She was also a voracious reader for the last ten years of her life. She also loved canning food and was known for sharing her gooseberry and buffalo-berry jellies and her hand knitted dishcloths. She enjoyed politics in her younger years.

She is survived by daughter Patricia (Randy) Melvin of Billings, MT and Julie (Brad) Berg of Brandon, SD; sisters Doris Pallett of Lewistown, MT, Pauline Short of Bozeman, MT; brother Danny (Judy) Quigley of Billings, MT; two granddaughters Aubrie Jo Melvin, Erin Marie Calderon and one grandson Joshua Massing (Michal) Beemer; six great grandchildren and countless cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987, her parents, brother Leo, twin brother Joseph and sister Bernice.

Memorial Services for Joyce I. Massing will be Saturday, December 16th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Perkins Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation has taken place and committal will be later in the Harlowton Cemetery with her husband. The Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
