Dorothy M. Johnson, 94 of Judith Gap, MT, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 10th, 2013 in Park Haven Nursing Home in Manhattan, MT of natural causes. She was born March 1, 1918 in Logan, Iowa the daughter of Winnie E. and Addie (Barnes) Otto. She received her schooling in Iowa and at young age left home looking for adventure and work.

She came west and settled in Montana where she worked as a cook on a ranch. On December 28, 1966 she was united in marriage to Vern J. Johnson in Elko, NV. They made their home near Judith Gap where they had a small farm and raised sheep. She worked as a clerk in the AG Store in Harlowton and as a Special Education Aide at the Judith Gap School for several years. They owned and operated a Bar and Restaurant in Judith Gap for several years. Vern preceded her in death in 1988, she continued to live in Judith Gap until the mid 2000’s when she moved to Colorado and then in 2010 she moved to Manhattan where she lived at Park Haven until the time of her death.

Dorothy enjoyed gardening, especially her gladiolus, hunting, farming & ranching and helping children. She
is survived by many friends.

She was a member of the Judith Gap United Methodist Church.

Funeral Services for Dorothy M. Johnson will be Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. in the Judith Gap United Methodist Church with interment to follow in the Judith Gap Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:30 pm. on Saturday, January 19th at the Church. Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
