Josephine “Josie” M. (Hillman) Blumer 91 of Harlowton died Sunday afternoon, May 8th, 2016 in Valle Vista Manor in Lewistown of natural causes with her family by her side. She was born March 26, 1925 in Sumatra, Montana the daughter of Joseph and Leola (Rowland) Bernhard.
She received her education in Sumatra graduating from Sumatra High School in 1943. She was united in marriage to Clarence (Bud) Hillman in 1944 in Bremerton, WA. They moved back to Musselshell, Montana where they made their home until his death in 1969. In 1971, she was united in marriage to Ernie Blumer, they lived in Harlowton where he worked for the railroad. They were active in the Harlowton community until his death in 1990. Josie later moved to Martinsdale with her companion John Sears. In 2012 she moved into the Wheatland Memorial Healthcare Nursing Home in Harlowton and later was moved to Valle Vista Manor in Lewistown in 2014.
Josie enjoyed dancing, gardening, reading, woodworking, fabric work, puzzles and fishing. She was always willing to help anyone in need and her home was always open.
She was a member of the Women of the Moose and the Jawbone Country Club.
Josie is survived by her children Patricia (Hillman) Wolfe of Wink, TX and Douglas and Jackie Hillman of Havre, MT; sisters: Dorothy Ross of Spokane, WA, Arlene Warren of Billings, MT, Barbara Resser of Laurel, MT and Frances Weber of Arizona City, AZ; 7 Grandchildren: Shanna Wolfe Thomas, Jason Wolfe, Charles Wolfe, Lori Wolfe Boswell, Brandon Wolfe, James Hillman and Julie Hillman Lammers; 23 great grandchildren Shaunicy, Zachery and Tanner Thomas, Farah, Ashley, David, Robert, Cristee, Kai, Carson, Brandie, Aden, Kole, Amaya and Jakab Wolfe; Sarah, Madison, Regan, Colby and Lillee Lammers, Ryan, Cole and Janna Hillman; 4 great great grandchildren: Zoe, Skylar, & Lexi Sharpnack and Ember Wolfe and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Josie Blumer will be Thursday, May 12th, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. in the Perkin Funeral Home Chapel in Harlowton. Cremation will follow the services and graveside services will be Friday, May 13th, at 4:00 p.m. in the Musselshell Cemetery in Musselshell Montana. Visitation at the Perkins Funeral Home will be Wednesday, May 11th, from 5 to 7 pm. The Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
